Dawn-Maria France is an award-winning, NCTJ-qualified journalist, broadcaster and commentator specialising in mental health, social affairs and wellbeing. With a background spanning newsroom journalism, youth work, community care and psychology-informed practice, she brings a grounded and informed perspective to contemporary social issues.

Her media experience includes appearances and contributions across BBC News, Sky News, TalkTV and ITV News, alongside written work for national and international publications including the Daily Mail, Daily Star, Huffington Post, Metro and the London Standard, as well as business-to-business and global news titles.

Dawn-Maria’s work focuses on mental health, social commentary, carers’ support, the cost of living and broader questions of wellbeing. She is particularly interested in how these issues affect communities at a local level, including perspectives rooted in Yorkshire, and how they intersect with wider national debates.

Alongside her journalism, she is a children’s author and animation scriptwriter. Her work includes The Adventure of Jenny and Philip: We All Need Friends (2018), as well as animated content such as Magic and Sparkle! With Donna, which has attracted significant online engagement. Her scripts often draw on her background in mental health and wellbeing, delivering positive and accessible messages for younger audiences.
