Julie Hodgson is a freelance journalist and prolific British author of fiction books for children and Young Adults, whose works have drawn widespread critical acclaim. She has variously won The Miami Readers Favourite Award, the Apple Book Awards, the Wishing Shelf Awards UK, and the Indie Brag Award, among other accolades, while her work “continues to inspire generations, leaving an indelible mark on the world of literature and beyond”, according to reviewers. Her books have been translated into a number of languages and are read worldwide.
Her academic background – a Diploma in Child Psychology, a Diploma in Criminology and Forensic Psychology, and TEFL, among others – and experience as a journalist continues to enrich her understanding of human behaviour and enhance her work. She remains a staunch advocate for literacy and education and has featured prominently in newspapers and on radio.
Aside from writing, Julie is a self-confessed travel addict whose journeys have included a daring trip on the back of a 50cc Suzuki motorbike from England to Germany, and other hair-raising experiences in Malaysia, Singapore, Kuwait, Libya, Sweden, and Portugal, among other countries, where she variously evaded conflicts (including the first Gulf War) and even conducted secret English classes in Libya.
