About
Matthew Kayne is a British journalist, broadcaster, campaigner, songwriter, and disability rights advocate. Born with cerebral palsy, he is a full-time wheelchair user requiring 24/7 care, but has never allowed his disability to define his limits. His resilience was further tested by a bladder cancer diagnosis, which he transformed into creativity by writing and recording music that channels pain into hope.
He is the founder and owner of Sugar Kayne Radio, an online station dedicated to uplifting music and social conversations, and has used the platform to challenge stigma and connect communities. His campaigning includes leading a national petition to reform the UK’s wheelchair service, calling for an independent review to ensure disabled people receive the dignity and equipment they deserve.
Matthew also gives back through weekly volunteering at Jewish Care and Chai Cancer Care, where he runs music sessions that use creativity to support wellbeing. With a strong public presence and ambition to enter politics, he is committed to amplifying the voices of disabled people and shaping inclusive policy at the highest level.
He is a correspondent at The European magazine, and is currently working on an autobiography exploring his life, challenges, and campaigns.
