About

Marco Previero is a health-innovation commentator and patient advocate whose work is informed by twelve years of lived experience navigating the healthcare system as the parent of a childhood brain cancer survivor. His expertise centres on the practical realities of complex care, the gaps that emerge once acute treatment ends, and the critical role of patients, parents and caregivers in shaping health technologies, service design and long-term follow-up care. His perspective bridges frontline experience with strategic analysis, enabling him to evaluate how innovations in healthcare translate into real-world outcomes for survivors and their families.

Marco has collaborated with leading paediatric oncology institutions, including as a named author on a 2025 study for the North Thames Paediatric Cancer Network and Great Ormond Street Hospital evaluating the provision and service-user experience of rehabilitation services for children diagnosed with brain tumours. He was also a founding Trustee of SUCCESS Life After Cure Ltd (2019–2025), a charity dedicated to improving the quality of life of childhood brain cancer survivors, having previously been involved when the initiative was a managed fund with University College London Hospitals.

His writing explores themes of trauma, resilience and the overlooked dimensions of survivorship, with work spanning two non-fiction books, articles, radio interviews and podcasts. His first book, Dear Millie (2015), was produced in collaboration with Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity and raised £16,000 for a paediatric brain cancer fund. His second, Walking on the Edge (2022), was developed in partnership with SUCCESS Life After Cure Ltd and carries a foreword by Dr Helen Spoudeas, Paediatric & Adolescent Endocrinologist and Chair of the charity.

Alongside his advocacy work, Marco contributes as a Correspondent for The European, writing on health innovation, survivorship, digital health tools and user-centred models of care. His media work, including articles and radio interviews between 2015 and 2023, aims to make complex health matters intelligible to wider audiences and to ensure that caregiver experience is recognised as a critical stakeholder perspective. Trilingual in English, French and Italian, he combines lived experience with a background in top-tier business strategy and has become a recognised voice for designs that incorporate logistical, educational, psychological and financial realities alongside medical treatment.

Marco’s long-term goal is to contribute to a more compassionate and effective model of survivorship care, broaden public understanding of the needs of childhood brain cancer survivors, and support innovation that places the patient and caregiver at the centre of healthcare systems.
