Ovidia Yu – Crimefest Bristol

09 May
Ovidia Yu – Crimefest Bristol
Bristol
CrimeFest

Ovidia Yu will be appearing at this year’s CrimeFest, an annual event that draws top crime novelists, readers, editors and publishers from around the world and gives delegates the opportunity to celebrate the genre in a friendly and inclusive atmosphere. Ovidia will speaking on two panels, with the first on Thursday 9th May, 14:40 – 15.30. The panel will focus on the topic of ‘Finding Your Place: Landscape and Setting’ and will also include Cathy Ace, Christina Koning, and Ian Moore. The participating moderator will be Michael Stanley (Michael Sears). Ovidia will be talking about how settings influence the murders committed in them – not just in terms of geography or available instruments but also the unique places and situations that might drive people there to murder.

On Saturday 11th May, between 11:20 – 12: 10, she will also participate in the “Not in My Job About: Crime-Solving Amateurs” panel group alongside J.G. Goodhind, Ada Moncrieff, and Kate Wells. Its participating moderator will be Dolores Gordon-Smith. Ovidia will be talking about why amateur sleuths might be able to connect to readers in a different way than procedurals, because these sleuths are doing their best with who they are rather than doing their jobs.
